How to end harrassing phone calls and emails from Omaha Steaks?

Whatever you do, NEVER ORDER FROM OMAHA STEAKS!!!

The food is really good, but they haunt you for life afterwards.

I get emails daily, sometime more. I get at least 2 phone calls from them daily. I don't answer anymore, and they don't leave a message.

I wasn't sure who the number was so I looked it up on GOOGLE and there are pages and pages of people making the same complaints.

Any idea how to get them to stop? I have already asked and tried to unsubscribe from the email.

You're right.. I never got called but at one point I was receiving 4-5 emails a day from these guys. Eventually I just blocked them all together. It was too much! lol. The unsubscribe on the email worked for me. You may want to try to call your phone provider and block the number(s) they call you from.

I will try the unsubscribe again.

I just sent them a letter telling them to remove both my email and phone from their list.

This has been going on now for about a year. I just today looked up their harrassing practices on google and got a bit peeved, and decided to fight back by telling everyone I know to not buy from them. Hit them RIGHT in the pocketbook!!!:reddevil:

Such a shame too because as you said, their steaks are pretty good. oh well.

These guys pay other people (affiliates) up to $40 for each person they sign up into their network. Huge market in it, especially around holidays, so they put out as many emails as possible.

Want to get out off of their mailing list? Threaten them. The Can-Spam act makes it 100% illegal (and punishable by jail time as well as sizeable fines) to continue to send you solicitation emails after you request to be removed from their list.

Keep a record of when you request to be removed so you have it as proof, and let them know that if you receive another email from them you will be contacting the FTC. They have 10 days to get you completely removed or they are in violation.

A decent summary of this legislation is found on wikipedia:

Fixed it?

I called and acted like I was ordering meat, then when I got the salesperson on, I gave him a firm, but stern talking to.

He was strongly encouraged to remove my name, phone number, and email address immediately. i also informed him that I would be keeping a log of all phone calls and email messages and a lawsuit would be filed if I received any more of either.

THEN, I told him that there are pages and pages of complaints about Omaha's harassment practices, and he should inform his people to look into it and recognize that their contact practices are actually causing a REDUCTION in sales, and not an increase.

THEN THEN, to prove my point, I told him that despite their food being very good, I would never order from them again after getting this long string of harassment.

Then after a few moments of silence (I FINALLY stopped talking) he informed me that he would clear my account and I should not encounter any more attempts to be contacted.

So, we will see...

There you go! Definitely keep us updated to see if that works.

So you know, the calls are completely separate from the emails and those have to be taken care of by them selves. Just click the "unsubscribe" link at the bottom of one of the emails and be sure you document when you did it.

I order from them and use an spare email acct that I use just to order stuff and know Ill get spam from. Also I give a fake phone number. No problems so far. I do get mail about once a month tho....
