My 99 GTI had oil residue all over the inside of the hull when I bought it. I need to really clean it up in order to see if I still have a leak. I've been looking for a thread on how to clean it out. It's all over everything, not just down in the bottom.

Is there any kind of foaming spray similar to foaming engine cleaner that I can coat everything with and then hose out and either drain out the back or suck out with a shop vac?

Any pointers to any good threads?

Thanks.

Use scrubbing bubbles for pwc's. LOL just kidding. There is not a product that is going to be spray on and hose out. Oil does not come clean without agitation. You may want to pressure wash it first to get the majority out... Then wash it with a sponge and some dawn... maybe a degreaser... but, dish soap does a good job.

I wouldn't recommend a pressure washer as it has a high pressure that will force water into all the electrical and places it shouldn't go. I use purple cleaner from like Auto Zone for the hull...it sprays on and just cuts the grease. Be careful and follow the instruction on the label as it is real strong, and can take off the paint on the engine. Use it in a well ventilated area.

I've been pressure washing my jetskis forever... Especially after salt water use. I'm not saying that you should break out the 4500 psi super sprayer... Low psi sprayers like what car washes have do fine. Just be mindful not to directly blast electronics. And when it comes to heavy duty degreasers- most will take off engine paint and some may melt the foam flotation in the hull.

I recently did some cleaning on the inside of my Seadoo. It had lots of oily residue. The best thing I found was Simple Green or Greased Lightning. Spray on straight from bottle, wait a few minutes and rinse off, & repeat as needed.

On the smoother surfaces you could almost spray on and rinse off. The foam is harder to clean. Using a brush helped.

I found a bilge cleaner at West Marine you pour in the bilge and drive the ski or boat for several hours. Take the ski out of the water and drain bilge. Worked great.

i found zep citrus degreaser works well and it's not corrosive like other engine cleaners, you can buy it by the gallon at home depot

Definitely simple green or maybe like Castrol Super Clean. Those should both be able to clean up the oil mess for sure. Definitely don't use high pressure in there. Use low pressure hose and then pull drain plugs to empty it out.

We use Purple Power from Advanced Auto Parts. Add a couple of inches of water inside hull, spray on degreaser, and rinse out with fresh water. Follow that with liquid CRC 6-56. We spray it on everything to eat off any moisture and protect the engine. CRC 6-56 can be purchased at any West Marine store. It is by far the best protectant you can buy.

If you have a lot, and it sounds like you do, I've found the best way to get the bulk of the mess out is at a carwash. Leave your seat and other removable items at home and out of the way, get to a carwash and slide the ski to the rear of the trailer enough so that when you unhook it from your hitch, it'll tilt back and allow the water to drain out. Completely remove your drain plugs, not just unscrew them, remove them. Using the tire cleaner coat everything well and use the soap to clean, then rinse of course. You'll find it'll come very clean and all you may need to do is touch it up a little where you may have missed. Also, make sure you wear some clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

Let me also add that I leave then tilted up all the time I am washing. Don't try it with it level and then drain, just let it drain as you wash.

I have used Tide and Dawn dish detergent. Mix the soap with a few gallons of hot water, pour into the hull(carefully). With the skis on the trailer, drive them around for a while. Pull the drain plugs, catch the dirty water, rinse hull carefully and either go ride the ski or let it air dry. I prefer Dawn, but Tide works good too. Good Luck
