how to clean mpem plugs

I've used some delicate long bristle detailing brushes just to clean any debris on inside of the MPEM AMP connector. Gently. The kinda cleaning that makes good contact without disassembing the plug I use a 220 grit emery paper folded in half. I gently stroke the rows on an angle and catch the sides of several pins at at time. I crisscross rows and top and bottom until I'm pretty confident they pins are clean. I've had an issue once or twice with the pins corroded and was able to get them making good contact.

On the AMP Plug - You can take the amp plug apart, clean and tighten things up a bit if needed but I wouldn't go through all that work unless you're really having a problem. Make sure the battery is disconnected before you start this process, especially if you pull the amp pin connectors. Good Luck !

I have used a different contact cleaner with great results. i have also used the same contact cleaner on my truck electrical connections for trailers up here in canada. These connections are exposed to road salt, snow, rain, and road grime, and it is remarkable how good the contact cleaner works. Of course if there are solids use a soft bristle brush to remove it and maybe compressed air.
