how much play is in the driveshaft

i have a 2004 4 tec sportster thats been smoking wear rings in the same spot motor mounts are good but the drive shaft moves alot with the pump off is this normal ,also the carbon ring is real loose on the shaft is that normal

Seadoo uses a floating drive shaft. With the pump off... the shaft will move several inches in any direction. Even when assembled correctly... it will move back and forth a little.

The shaft, and alignment have NOTHING to do with wear ring issues. The pump is self supporting.

The carbon seal is also floating. SO... it will move if you push on it.
