How much impeller/shaft travel?

Greetings -

Just replaced a wear ring in the starboard pump of my 1996 Speedster and installed the newer, spring-loaded cone. I also had the port pump rebuilt. When I push the impeller into the pump, I've noticed that the pump I worked on has more ravel than the rebuilt pump. Not a lot, but a little more, maybe 2-3mm total. Pressure test was good, so I'm wondering how much travel (forward/back) for the pump & shaft is normal or at least okay.

If memory serves me correct there is suppose to be rubber bumpers to absorb thrust shock. These could be worn or missing.

Usually it will move, the book has a spec.

About 1/8" give or take, not sure what that converts to in mm.

That would be the rubber bumper on the driveshaft, but right now the pump is not installed.
