I own a 98 sea doo speedster twin 787s, about to purchase a tube but do not want to go too big. How large how many ppl and size have you oulled and how was it?

I'm sure you'd have no problem pulling a 3 person tube. You could probably even pull a couple tubes at a time. How many did you have in mind?

It depends on the weight, and how aggressive you want to pull it.

I have a 3 person tube, and it is great. BUT... if I had 2 larger teen boys on it... I couldn't pull hard enough to throw them. Also... since it was so big... with one person on it... it was stable enough that it was hard to throw them. (without hitting dangerous speeds) Because of that... I also bought a larger, single person tube. It's much more fun to ride.

With that said... both tubes have their place. If I put a couple younger kids out on it... and I don't really want them to go flying off... I use the 3 person tube. If I have an adult out on the tube... I can put them on a single, and I can flick them off at will. (lol)

If you only want to buy 1 tube... get a larger, single tube, with a good nylon cover. (around the 52" to 56" size) It's big enough to be stable for the kids... and will be stable for a + 200 Lb adult.

FYI... in most states, you can't have anymore people out on the tube, that you have seating int he boat for. (including the driver and spotter) So your max is 3 people on the tube.

I have a large Seadoo single tube that I can put an adult and a kid in and tow that with zero problems. I've never tried a side by side tube but I would suspect it would do it no problems. At 230# and 6'2" my Speedster can yank me out of the water on two skis like nothing, and it's harder to pull a skier out than a tube I think. I can also get out of the water on a slalom ski, but I, not the boat need to work harder. Knee boarding behind the Speedster is also easy for the boat. If you haven't towed yet you'll have to find the correct rpm to do it at. I want to say I tow at about 4500 RPM anything lower and your constantly in and out of the power and it can be frustrating, hence the Speedster SK has the 720's which have a much different power range. You'll know what I'm talking about when you start doing it, you'll feel it. I also use the retractable pylon to tow everything from.

Thank you all very much, I was trying to go with a 4 person tube big I know.... but now ill jus do a 2 peraon and keep it kegal n such

I've got a 2 person tube that I used for the first time last season. The 787s have no problem pulling two people around with a combined weight of about 300lbs. Can still fling people off at a safe speed at that weight.

I think you will be happy with a 2 person tube.

The above comments were with my old sportster. (singe 720) I could pull the big tube (with 2 people) without too many issues... but if I tried to make a big sweeping corner... I would slow down.

I haven't tried the big tube with the Islandia yet. I'm sure it would do much better... but here again... I think to flick a couple large teens/adults off... I'd have to be pushing 35 mph, and really whip them. (too stable) BUT... the little kids like it, since they get wet, and not fall off.

Now... to be honest... I think my single tube, behind my Genesis is the best time I've ever had. The ski is very stable, it has a big pump, and a torquey 3cyl 135hp engine.

Let us know what you get.

I pull a 3 person tube behind my 2008 RXT-X 255hp with no issues what so ever. Just bought a 2012 speedster 150 255hp and hope it will pull the 3 person tube just as well as the RXT-X.

Cheers

I just sold the same boat a month ago (98 speedster). i have the sportstuff 3 man tube, speedszone3. It is an awesome tube. it has back rests and nice handles. The boat can easily pull it. If you have average size people, 3 isnt a problem. Me and my friends are mostly above average weight 250+. It can easily pull 2 big guys without a problem. You wont be disappointed with it at all. I also highly recommend the towing rope be one called the "booster ball" It has a huge inflatable ball about halfway that keeps the rope off the water. does an awesome job.

I never pull a tube using the pylon. It will bend. Thats only meant for skiing. With a tube, it has way too much surface contact with the water. i can almost guarantee with a 3 person tube you WILL bend it. Use the tow hook for tubes.
