Hi everyone, I have a 2012 speedster and the throttle squeaks as you move it. I was wondering what the best lubricant to spray on it would be to stop the squeaking. WD40 is not a lubricant so don't want to use it. I would also like something that does not attract dust or dirt and is good for the marine environment. Something with Graphite in it maybe ?

Thanks

There have been complaints about the steering on many boats. To the degree where the steering gets stuff an hard to steer.

There is no easy way to open this up and fix the issue.

I suggested to one member drill a hole and thread a self tapping Zerc fitting. He did so, used a grease gun and problem solved. He can steer his boat with no issues.

If it is squeezing it is likely on its was to getting stiff.

Misread the post. Sorry.

That said, there have been many posts on this issue. Don't recall if there was a good fix. The throttles work off of resistance in regards to staying in place once you move the lever. Thus, lubricating them is likely to affect the resistance.

Do a good search before you lube it up.

I have a 2012 Speedster 150 as well and my throttle was squeaking as well. I didn't take any proactive measures to fix, but the problem resolved itself over time. I have almost 80 hours on my boat and I don't think is has squeaked since I have had 50 hours on it.
