I just purchased a 97 challenger. The previous owner had no idea last time repairs were done so I thought the replace the impeller with a solas OX. I figured I would order the new wear ring, bearing set and carbon seal while I was changing the impeller. Not sure if I am going overboard on parts or if these are normal preventive parts to replace
Thanks Jeff

It never hurts to do work like that, when a boat or ski is new to you. That way, you know it's right.

But... spec is 0.040" or less clearance in the pump.

If you have a bad carbon seal... you can have cavitation so bad, that the boat will never get on plane. Speaking of the carbon seal... if you are going to do it... you need the O-rings that go into the stainless ring, and a new carbon ring boot.
