How do you guys sell your Doos? Can't seem to sell mine - Challenger SE

I've had my listed for a month, and maybe I'm just not hitting the right market. I have a 2012 Challenger SE with only 55 hours great condition, I figured it would have sold instantly.. or maybe I'm asking too much. Bought it for 25k a few years ago, asking 22k obo. Is it worth a lot less now or something..?

edit:: https://chicago.craigslist.org/nwc/boa/6214982153.html is my listing, Chicago

You cant enjoy a new boat for 5years at a depreciation of just 3k hahaha

also the obo model is flawed, Determine what price you want to sell the boat for and list it at that price (example 17k)

I agree that the price is high. Try dropping it a bit. I have had luck listing skis on eBay, not sure about the boat market there though.

Every market is different but I can tell you from a buyers experience how my market is. I just recently bought a couple jet skis off craigslist. I noticed the market is flooded with 2002 and 2006 models. Anything above 2002 was selling for just about 5 grand per boat. give or take. Once you got into the 2011 they suddenly jumped to around 10k per boat.

I looked at everything in my local market...within 150 miles. Most of the boats were obviously abused. They all ran and had fresh oil but the gel coat was either worn or chipped or the seats were worn. None of that affected the asking prices. Its crazy what people think their boats are worth.

Now...I look back through craigslist today and 80% of the boats I was looking at two months ago are still on the market. Part of the problem is a guy can buy a brand new ski for around 7 grand from the dealer. May not be supercharged or such, but its.a brand new boat with a warranty.

I agree with others that your price is a little high. Do you see other units comparable to yours priced like yours? How long have they been on the market? Patience is a virtue for a seller. Not for the buyer. But most buyers are not going to pay 3 grand less than a new unit for something that's been used. They will just go buy new at that price point.

The other place to get some pricing from is boattrader. See what others are selling for or have sold for.

I hate to be another one who says "it is priced too high" but it is. The #1 reason things don't sell is that they are priced too high. GLWS!

Another factor, Sea Doo is out of the boat business, there is the impression (and rightly so) that service can be an issue.

Same goes for ATVs-people think they're sitting on gold. I ended up buying a new ATV, as warranty was at least there on a new one. For my PWC, I didn't even bother to look at used, because the few I saw outside people's homes were ridiculously priced, and the 3 year warranty on new was a no-brainer.

I'd been looking for one all summer - Minneapolis area - not many around here - found one in Indiana - same as yours 2012 260 hp SE - 43 hours less than 15K. Nice boat.

Next on list to add more sound proofing -

Good Luck.

Tim
