How do i fix tach wires?

Hi! Starboard motor tach doesnt work unless i reach my hand on it and pull the plug left to right and hold it just in the right spot and it will kick on for a min, No loose or broken wires.. not sure if its in the tach or the harness.. anyway to fix this? without putting a whole new harness or tach?

I would repair or replace the wire first to see if it helps. It sounds like it's shorted out. It's cheaper to put a new end on the wire than replace the sealed tach.
