How and when to clean outside hull?

I've been bringing my '05 RXP back to the house after each lake outing and spraying off the hull with clean water. I also hook up the hose and run the engine for a minute or so to flush out the jet drive system.

I have really bad water spots all over the hull. At the boat ramp, I see the ski boat guys immediately go to work on their boats with a spray bottle and rags. I asked one guy what it was and he said it was some kind of cleaner w/wax.

What do I need to be cleaning my hull with and how often? I would like to get rid of the water spots.

I use a Teflon wax I get from West Marine...it just keeps everything clean with a hose, and a shamy. No water spots or anything. The wax is expensive...but it saves me a lot of time with water spots removal. In the long run it actually is cheaper than using regular wax and extra clean up HOURS.
