Hour readings on 97/98 Challenger 1800 ?

Does anyone know if a 1997 or 1998 Sea-Doo Challenger 1800 with twin 787cc engines, (not sure of the year), can have the engine run hours read by a dealer. I'm hearing that these boats dont have that capability, so if you cant tell how many hours are on the boat, then what's a good guide to go by? Compression?

Compression is a good indication of how the internals of the the engine are. Yes, your seadoo dealer can get the hours out of the MPEM,(Multi Purpose Electronic Module). I would than bench set a hour meter to keep track of the use hours for maintenance purposes.
