I just bought a 96 HX and tryed it out today. Ran good for about 5 min and then it died. Opened it up and the pipe was super hot and now the starter won't do anything. I even jumped the solinod still nothing. When It was running the spitter was working so the motor was getting water. I turned the engine over by hand and the plugs looked good.

Hot pipes..

If your exhaust was super hot it obviously isn't getting enough cooling.. maybe your teltale is still working but the water isn't getting to your pipe through a hose blockage.. check all your hoses for blockages ... check your battery and wiring.. the heat could have melted some of the wiring ... your battery may need chargin.. take the plugs out... does it crank now?

The starter don't do anything. I checked the battery 12volts.Not even a click of the solinod. I looked at the wiring I don't see anything melted. As far as blockages the 1/2"hose coming from the head to the pipe isn't blocked. Besides that hose and the two little ones I don't see any othe hoses.

Does the pipe actualy fill with water while its running? The reaon I ask is the hose clamp that connected the pipe to the rubber exhaust hose was super loose. This would cause the water that is in the pipe to dump out into the boat fast instead of traveling to the back.
