Hi! anyone have a better pic/diagram of which hose needs to be clamped off prior to towing? Just like to know when/if I ever need this info. 2005 Sportster related :)

thx!

This is the hose to clamp on my 155HP 2012 150 Speedster. Going to Harbor freight to pick up a cheap wood clamp to keep in the boat.

Hey guys, I would pinch/clamp the lake water inlet hose. In exploring/carolinas first pic there is a hose with green stripe (right by driveshaft/bilge pump). This is the inlet hose that feeds the intercooler/exhaust cooling loop. I would pinch that line to prevent and water from entering the system.

My $0.02

In my 2012 manual it shows the exhaust manifold outlet hose to place the clamp on.

It makes sense to clamp the inlet hose. They show clamping the outlet hose in the manual, could it be the outlet hose is easier to get to?

I find that kinda interesting ... I'm certainly not going to argue with the manual. But if it was my ski/boat I would clamp the inlet, this way there isn't water sitting in the intercooler and exhaust system. That hose the manual says to clamp certainly appears easier to access though so maybe thats what they were thinking.

Not sure if it's an easier location to get to or something else.

Recommended hose pincher # 529 032 500. I purchased a different "cheap" clamp from Harbor Freight.

Just looked it up in the 2012 shop manual:

The 2012 operators manual states: "Install the hose pincher on the exhaust manifold water outlet hose as shown"

The 2012 Shop manual states: "On models with twin engines, this procedure must be followed for both engines.
Pinch the water supply hose cooling the intercooler (if applicable) and exhaust system"

In both manuals they show this hose to place the clamp on:

Great photos, wish someone would post some SCIC 215 Challenger pictures with this kind of clarity!

Thanks!

Used to work on many mechanical projects keeping hard copy photo files to refer to when the engineers did not make CAD files for the modification. The first digital camera I purchased used 3.5" floppys and was a "great" improvement over hard copy photo files.
