I have attached a picture of my problem. There is a nipple on the left side of the block towards the bottom that I don't have a corresponding hose. Also there is another hose coming from the #1 carb. All of the hoses have been connected according to the manual. HELP!

Need more info..what kind of ski/motor and what all has been done to it? Are you in the process of a rebuild? How far did it get taken apart?

Hoses

This was an engine swap and compressor assembly rebuild. I thought I took plenty of photos during the disassembly, but I am lacking ONE critical photo!!

that is the pulse hose. goes to the fuel pump section of the, i think, front carb. usually the pulse is taken from the same spot in front of the rot valve area. using front cyl crankcase pressure instead of rear. you will notice a flat in the same place in front. since they took it off the rear, they mighta used the rear carb as the fuel pump carb, but i doubt it.

Carb Line

The mag (front) carb line just shows terminating in the service manual diagram. (Section 5 sub section 1 item #11) I rebuilt the carbs and this would either be an atmospheric reference, or as you stated a pulse reference, but from where? The lower hose is the input from the fuel filter.

The nipple on the left side has no reference at all. I know it is in the oil system, but nothing exists. I have also gone through the sea doo forum and SBT forum.

Oh, and the little hose next to the carb hose in the photo vents to the front right of the hull. Again, no diagram.

Anyone with a 657 engine, please take a quickie photo for reference. (717's too)

Answer!!!

I found a photo of the engine on the floor and it does have the port, just on the opposite side. I will run the line from the pulse side of the carb to the engine.

If I am wrong, please feel free to tell me!!

Well the original pic shows the nipple to the left of the PTO carb. The second picture you can see the small grey hose going up from the MAG carb towards the engine. (A small grey bump) The manual just shows the hose terminating with "to eng" marks.

I will be starting it today!!:hurray:

fuel hose routing

I cant really tell from your pic but are your carbs coupled via the front carb outlet to the rear carb inlet? I am trying to reconnect my 96 spx and wondered if you could write how your connections are. Is there only one return line back to the fuel tank from rear carb? And how many total inlets and outlets per carb do you have.

my 96 has 4 on front carb and 2 on rear carb.

Front carb has Pulse and Main fuel supply line.

these carbs don't have float needles and seats. they fill the bowls all the way up, and pump the rest back into the tank. that way level isn't such an issue. yes the outlet from front carb fills inlet to rear carb, which then vents back to the tank by it's outlet.

routing

If you are looking down onto your carbs, from right to left, they are as follows. pulse side hose.(Front of MAG carb), fuel inlet (follow hoe to the fuel filter), fuel exit to PTO carb, PTO carb fuel inlet, and finally the fuel return from the PTO carb.

I haven't yet started the unit due to buying a battery that has some assembly required!!:ack:
