Quick question about Sea Doo horse power, Speedster is 155 Hp but nowhere near my buddys 150 outboard? is there a conversion seeing as it is a pump. Notsure if i am even asking that right.

It's because you are putting it though a pump, and not a prop.

Generally, the jet drive will be faster up top, and the the prop will be quicker out of the hole.

that makes sense as i can beat him top speed wise, But with tha being said i am looking at some other models of sea doo boats and looking at horsepower to weight ratio, the speedster i have gives me 9.7lbs per Hp and if i moe up to the 210 wake it is 9.8lbs per Hp! not really worth $50,000 as i find it hard to get up on one skid with the current ratio. Any insight or wisdom

Don't forget, two engines, twice the water going through it. The twin models will have better acceleration and turning. Better out of the hole! Thrust to weight is how to gauge top speed. At high speed 10hp per mph approx.
Cheers

It's not as simple as power to weight. With a boat, the water drag on the hull is a huge factor, so you can't compare different hulls. Second... as said above... the 210 will have 2 engines, and 2 pumps... so you have twice the thrust area. (like having 4 wheel drive in the mud) So, that bigger boat will give a better tug on the rope.

I'm no expert but I do know that it's very hard to compare boats based on rated horsepower, in part as a result of the method by which the power is measured.

For instance I have a Sportster with the SCIC 4Tec nominally rated at 215hp, however BRP estimates the actual power "at the pump" is 103hp. Meanwhile it's my understanding that outboard motors have been rated at the prop for several years now. I'll leave it to others with more knowledge to weigh in on what this all means.
