Found a small hole in one of port side mufflers and am replacing it given cooling and exhaust importance. Not a big project.

Anyone seen this before? Any suggested probable causes such as freeze/thaw due to inadequate antifreeze in winter stowage, impact, corrosion, normal wear, heat?

Otherwise boat runs strong. Thanks all.

Nope... not a common issue.

The only way to know what happened is to check it out. Put your finger in it, and if it was corrosion from the inside... it will be brittle, and you will get white power from it. If it's burnt... you will see bubbles in the paint, or signs of melting. If it was an impact, you will see a dent. (unlikely)

What Tony said. Is the hole caused from rust or is it a crack from a freeze?

Either way, you can clean up the area around the hole and weld a patch panel over it.

Thanks doods, it appears to be from freezing during prior ownership. I won't be able to take a closer look until early next week. Cheers.
