Hmmm, not sure I like results of my oil burn experiment...

I filled the tank and then marked where the oil level was, and today, after burning off 3/4 tank, I topped the fuel back off and added a measuring cup full of oil until it came back up to the line.

I burned 20 oz of oil to 17.788 gals of gas.

If I am not mistaken in my calculations, that is 1:113 oil to fuel ratio...

I am feeling more and more glad that I dumped half a gallon of oil in with the gas.

I have to admit, though, that some guy distracted me at the pump while I was measuring the oil, but I am pretty sure I got 2-1/2 cups in before he interrupted.

Another half gallon of oil going in the gas, and going to test it on another tank.

Thats scary. Sucks all it takes to burn up a motor is the injections system to fail. I need to knock on some wood. Mine seems to take a gallon per tank of gas. But shouldnt i be using a lot more with 2 engines?

not really Fost, thats a 64oz oil to 20gals per motor....roughly 32-35/1 ratio, ur knock'n on, bud.

Yo Scoop...with that ratio, ur drive'n slower, than driving miss daisy...LOL.

How much idling was that....lol

Just idling away from and to beaches and docks. Lots of wide open or 3/4+ throttle, and a couple of wakeboard sessions.

I rode it fast a lot, sometimes just in big circles, so that I could burn the tank off fast and get an idea of how much oil I burned.

I marked the oil tank and after 3/4 tank of gas 18 gallons, the oil level was less than 1/2" low. More like 3/8" under the line.

Going to do it again with half gallon premix (55:1) and try to get a better measurement after this tank.

While wakeboarding, I was surprised at how little smoke the boat was putting off with the oil injection AND 1/2 gallon premixed. I would have expected it to smoke quite a bit, but it didn't smoke hardly at all, and then only at takeoff.

On the plus side, I purchased a gallon of that Mystic brand oil today for $19 per gallon. I will run the BRP oil out and start using that stuff, and maybe I will have to continue premix as well...Or figure out why my injection isn't working, or both.

think about, stud...with the amount RFosters' burning, what are you really saving, besides having to premix the gas, yourself. Think premixing, is look'n better and better.

i dunno what i was thinking. That sounds like the right ratio. Kinda sucks to basically add an extra buck for every gallon of gas I burn since the oil is almost $40 per gallon and lasts 40 gallons of gas. A newer boat is lookin better.....got too much time and money in this one to sell it now though.

i here ya, stud....their nice boats...;)

Scooper...

I would do a volume test as outlined in the manual... Or just switch to pre mix. The system on the SeaDoo is good, but they do clog up every once in a while. Thats why the filter, an small hoses should be changed every year. (for peace of mind)

RFoster....

I feel your pain with the oil $$$$$, but with a new 4-tech boat, you have extra expense in oil changes, supercharger rebuilds, and a payment since they are going to be more expensive to buy.

Thats in regards, if he stays with Seadoo brand boats.......:reddevil:

Being paid for is the main reason I keep it, and I keep adding more stuff to it. It is finally done I think. I actually really like thislittle boat. I will keep it for now till the baby gets bigger and wants to bring her friends.

Engine is new from last summer, and the oil pump, hoses, and everything came with it.

Swapped out the filters this week.

So I will do a volume consumption test AGAIN and make sure I take better measurements.

While running premix again.
