the fasteners are Rivets

re: replacement plates, no idea, although I believe its legal to make them since its your ski and you have a title, maybe at some kiosk at the mall or "something remembered" or a trophy shop ?

Keep the old one for proof of what happened. And keep it with the ski, not at home when you are out riding around. Normally a dealer can get a replacement plate for boats. I would think the same goes with skis. Even if you get a new one, keep the old with the ski. Lots of stories I could expand on about replaced HIN plates.

Repairing and selling iPads, iPhones and Mini iPads.

I don't have a lot of the pieces, the ski is on the trailer on the lawn beside my house. The buffing wheel caught it and it broke in small chunks into the grass....only found a couple pieces one corner was about 30 feet away on the drive way in front of my mailbox. Heard a piece bounce of my shed but couldn't find it. Need to do something with the rivets one of them is very sharp.

Maybe KY is more lax than other states, but here the only time a watercraft is inspected is when it is purchased out of state. So unless you sell the ski, and sell it to an out of state buyer you shouldn't have a problem. BTW there is another HIN inside the ski under the gas tank.

being as your actually trying to do it "legal" just do your best, since IF a real ambitious water cop saw one that looked "irregular" he might assume it might have been stolen, you just want to do what you can to convince that person that you are on the up & up and avoid big time hassles. (granted IMO I would think a cop would be more worried about a 2012 Ski with an irregular plate vs a 1992)

and I concur with joe's post, take a drill bit to the rivets, they will pop right through in about 10 seconds or less.
