So after months of work I took my 96 Challenger out this week and it ran great. I have 150 PSI on both cylinders and got up on plane easily as long as there wasn't too much weight on the boat. However, I am using A LOT of oil....the oil pump looks like it is set correctly. What else could cause this???

oil consumption

well i went through a whole tank of oil in less than 4 days....running it for 1-2 hours a day... It smokes pretty heavy during the whole shot and you can see some oil leak out of the exhaust when i kill it at the dock...

How much oil for how much fuel?? (not time or days)

BUT... if there is visual smoke, then there is a chance that you are using too much.

Check the cable hooked to the pump, and make sure the marks are aligned at idle. If your pump is set corectly... then that's a sign that the rotary valve seals could be leaking. But, I bet the cable popped off, or the arm on the pump is rotated the wrong way around. (getting full oil all the time)

oil pump alignment

Could you post the procedure for setting the oil pump....I know i have seen pictures before but I can't for the life of me seem to find the thread that had them?
