hi i need some help on my xp just go in to the skis game and dont know much about them well . the problem im having is .the motor terns good with out spark plugs, but i put them on the head and it dont whant to tern over .what do u think ? i think is the starer maybe week ?and im not geting spark ,well im getting really small amount of spark , what can it be ? please let me know what u think,

want to fix for the family this summer

Remove the spark plug caps and cut off 1/4 in off the end and reinstall the cap end. Sometimes the ends get corroded on old seadoos and doesn't get a good connection. Be sure to use new properly gaped spark plugs too. As far as it not turning over, be sure the ground cable going to the engine by the starter is getting a good connection.

i have a 96 xp and i just had the same problem it was definetly the starter on mine when i tried with the plugs out it would start or if i took the starter out and tried on the ground it turned over but if i tried with spark plugs in it would not i replaced the starter and it was been starting everytime since then

Remove the spark plug caps and clip. cut or trim off 1/4" from the end of the wire. re-install the spark clip and end cap...it will give a better connection is it has weak spark.

ok so take the spark plug wire and pull the wire cut the wire 1/4 of the wire and then put it to gether and put the plug wire back on ?

Yes...the ends get corroded sometimes and cutting off the end will get rid of the corroded part....so it has a better connection = better spark.

sounds like you need a new battery, that 800 motor requires a very strong battery, not just an ok battery. also check connections, especially the ground at the motor.

If you battery is just ok, Have it Load tested at like Auto Zone for FREE, so you know it doesn't have a bad cell or 2. If it has a bad cell it will show 12 volts( Full Charge) but not enough amps to properly turn over the starter also.
You might have a compound problem.
