Hello fellow doo-ers! I have had my doos for over 8 years and still enjoy every minute that i can escape with them. My last jaunt turned a bit ugly and if anyone can shed light, it would be greatly appreciated. My 99 gtx ltd was running great, it is slightly modified and can run 72-74mph all day. we were cruising along and all of a sudden it died, it eventually restarted under protest but ran rough for a few mins. it was hard to get on plane then died again. same scenario then just seemed be be slipping and plowing like crazy. managed back to shore at just above idle and was full of water, cleaned and drained, oiled cylinders, cleaned plugs etc. started and ran great. back in, really hard time back on plane then died and started filling up again, wants to go put if it had a clutch this would be slipping, and the water thing??? i have checked all lines and nothing is cracked or broken. this machine has only broken a reed valve in 8 years of service!! Can anyone relate to my sick baby syndrome. Thanks guys this seems like an awesome site, and if i can help anybody, please just ask. Cheers!

It sounds like it was over heating from a cooling line that was not cooling and filling up the hull. Check all cooling areas for a crack, or a split line. It has to be in the cooling system somewhere.

OK

Thanks, Karl I will pull off and pressure test the lines, I am also going to pull off the jet drive as it seems to have a melted gasket between it and the hull. sounds like a busy night tonight!

rave valve

Karl,
If my Rave valve on my exhaust was pooched (loose warped cap and loose stem) it also lets me blow through any inlet or outlet freely. would this leek and cause high temps??

I think I read somewhere that hoses will rot from inside and wont be visible. so it can cause a clog. but that was for prop boats, not sure if that will cause issues on closed loop cooling.
