Help!

I am on vacation in the Finger Lakes of NY state. GTX ran fine two days ago. Tried to use today. Starts fine. But when you try to pull the throttle and gain speed the rpm gauge goes up to 5000 and the engine revs but will not gain speed. Almost as if you are in neutral but you aren't.Can shift to reverse and throttle is ok. Go back to forward and you can't gain speed. What do I look for as the culprit?

obstruction in the pump assy, wear ring condition,....

Check to see if your reverse gate is moving all the way up when in forward. Could be a linkage problem.
