I have a 1994 gts seadoo and have finally narrowed my problem down but have no idea where to go now. Here is what i have I tried to start machine and had no spark. I them pulled the electronics box and noticed that if I unplugged the black and red wire that is located in the box that the machine would start but if I plugged back in it would die. The wires go into the magneto and T's off in the box and one goes to the coil and one goes into the rubber covered circuit board. If anybody has any info that would greatly be appreciated thanks.

It's your MPEM or a fuse...

Hey!

I've got the same problem w/ my brother's '93 SPX. After much research on here, threw the manual, and some great advice from some very knowledgable guys here, it's the MPEM that's pooched. Unplugging the black & red wire bypasses the MPEM and the kill switches. If you get spark with it unplugged then the circuitry in the MPEM is toast. Time to get a new one.

Oh, BTW, the MPEM (Multi Purpose Electronic Module) is that black rubber coated thing that you mentioned. Just out of curiousity...did you check the two fuses that are on the MPEM? One is a brown 5 amp and the other is a blue 15 amp. Make sure neither are blown. If they are, verify that none of the wires have rubbed down and arced/shorted out, then change the fuse and try it out.

Hope this helps, and keep us all posted.

Cheers!

Rectifier?

The color and location of the wires your describing are the wires from your rectifier. It sounds like it's blown. The rectifier/regulator takes the AC voltage being generated by your magneto and converts it to DC and regulates it to 14 VDC.

When you plug these wires back in, it should be blowing your 15 amp fuse.

You only listed the black and the red wire but you go on to say that there is a wire going into the module. l go back over your post and label all your wires for me but from your description, it's your rectifier.............
