Hi guys,

I am rebuilding the pumps off my 95 speedster and have a couple of issues.

First of all is which way round does the upgraded nose cone fit on? I forgot to take photos when removing the originals and as per my manual it says both ways round and I have no idea. To the left way looks too low but the right looks too high.

Also I have made a mistake and installed the drive shaft seal the wrong way round although this fits the drive shaft better is it going to cause any issues? It might work better anyway as my shaft is worn where the seal should fit.

Many thanks

Picture no. 2 is the correct way to install the cone, the filler needs to be near the top of the pump. Because of the grooves cut into the drive shaft it needs to be installed in the original position, I've never owned a Seadoo boat so correct me if I'm wrong. racerxxx

Correction: I misread your post, the impeller seal needs to be installed as shown in the manual installing it backwards will let the grease wash out.

The seal that is on the impeller end of the housing, presses in after the bearing.

The manual says to put it the oposit way I would expect to fit it with the flat side pointing in and the c shape pointing outwards

I believe we had this discussion on another thread, and yes the seal goes in opposite of what you would think, it's called a double lip seal, and the spring side goes on the outside of the housing. That being said, apparently I've been installing them with the wrong side out for years with no problems, so if it were me and your pump passes the pressure test, 10psi for 10 minutes I would leave it alone.

I was hoping someone would say that, I wanted to leave it fitted wrong as the shaft is worn where the seal fits so it should seal better that way :-)

On the hole in the cone do I take it that the cone / bearings are almost completely full of oil with very little air left inside?

Many thanks

Yep Lou is correct. I was part of that discussion. If it passes the pressure test then leave it alone.

By the way, I though I was wrong. :)

Yep, fill it up as much as you can get in there. Replace the fill screw, either run the ski for a few seconds or just turn it over, remove the fill screw and top it off. BTW, you really don't need to use the foul smelling SeaDoo stuff, just use a 75w90 weight GL5 synthetic lube, I use Mobile 1.

Unfortunately I have already purchased some wsm pump lubes for the pumps however I will get some 75/90 for next time around.

Thanks again for all your help.... now I have more problems (engine :-( ) I will create a new thread for some more great advise.
