Hi every one
Just wondering if anybody could help me. I’m thinking of purchasing a 1996 Seadoo Challenger jet boat and have no experience in the field .
Does this boat have any things wrong that I should look out for?
I noticed that the seats are cracked …Where can I purchase Seat covers for it?
Other then the crack seats this boat looks very good.
Is their a check off list of things to look for?
Please if anyone can help me it would be appreciated.

Thank you in.
Love this site:)

Boat inspection.....?

There are several small things you can do to try and ensure your not buying a lemon. The most important, for me anyway, is to make sure the engine has good compression. Your looking for about 140 to 150 psi.

Then, you'll want to hear it run. If you can, have a multi meter tester with you and get a reading on the battery when the boat is running. Your looking for a reading about 14 to 14.5 VDC.

General cleanliness. Make sure there are no oil leaks. If so, make sure you can identify them and that you know the casing has no leaks. Check to see if it has the oil tank still intact and whether or not it is still oil injected. If it isn't, this shouldn't take away from the purchase but if the oil tank has been removed, then I'd shy away from it. Some people loop over the rotary vent line to the supply line. I'm not a fan of this method because it gives the rotary chamber no venting. In my opinion, this is the same as blocking off your PCV valve in your car....

Fuses?........make sure they are all there and not blown. If you find one blown, replace it and start the motor. Then, after you shut it down, check it to make sure it didn't blow again.

The seats.........I like this guy on ebay...."Great Lakes Skipper". He always seems to have good deals on the little odd and end things. He has seats but may not have the ones your looking for. Here's a link to one that he has. Go check out his ebay store..........http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Part...arts_Accessories_Gear?_trksid=p4506.m20.l1116

I hope this gives you a little bit to go on. Watch the seller. If you bring a multi meter and compression gage with you, he's liable to say you can't use them. If so, he's hiding something. Be wary from that point on........

Seadoosnipe covered almost everything.
Seat can be recovered by a local shop. I have a quote on mine and suspect that I'll have them done at some point.
Also look at the bottom of the boat for condition. Large scratches, can you see the fiberglass. That will tell you a lot about how the boat was used.
Compression test is your friend!
