As the title states, my rear deck vinyl where it was in contact with my beige cover turned purple over the winter being stored outside. Last winter I had no such problems. I tried to power wash it off and also scrubbed it with blech-white, to no avail. The cover had quite a bit of mold/mildew on it so I think that has something to do with it. Any suggestions?

What year and model boat do you have, and is it the original upholstery? I don't know if this will help but try Shoreline Mold and Mildew Cleaner, also when you store your boat undercover use a tub or two of DampRid, I used two tubs in my boat last winter and it was clean as a pin this spring. Also use a couple of short PVC pipes to ventilate under the cover.

I always had good luck with starbrite vinyl and mildew remover. I have since moved to Walmart brand all purpose cleaner with bleach. Smells the same and is dirt cheap (under $2) compared to the starbrite. And it kills the flu virus, who knew!

I have an '03 Utopia with I believe the original vinyl on the rear hatch. Another friend googled the problem for me and it seems an ozone generator has proved to work for this problem. Anyone tried that?

SEM marine vinyl coat spray paint is available in several shades of white, your seats will look brand new again just google the name it's available from several retailers.

This is most likely mold from moisture trapped between the cover and the vinyl. Some air space between the two can avoid this, perhaps some cardboard (if boat is stored in dry area) or as mentioned pvc pipe to provide an air space. Mold can do some weird things, often it's very tough to remove these stains and the products mentioned above may work. Other times it wipes right off.

Personally, I avoid using products containing bleach b/c the bleach can attack the upholstery threads and cause them to fail.

Might also try a strong solution of hydrogen peroxide, good luck.

I'm a firm supporter of vinyl spray paint, I've used it before and when applied as directed had fantastic results even with changing from one color (dark brown) to another color (medium blue).

Spray-nine is another that wasn't mentioned, one I had good results with on my new used boat was Attwood mildew stain remover, let it soak in the shade until staining disappears then wash away.

It's very strange, one product seems to work well in some cases then doesn't in other cases where another does.
