i have a 2001 seadoo bombardier gti. i currently disassembled the intake side of the the engine clear down to JUST the crank gear (removed air intake, carb, and components) there was a metal plate that is a half moon shape on the crank gear. it spins with the crank and allows the two holes where i believe the reed valves are to be open and shut at times.

MY QUESTION IS; i took this plate off and am now at the installing stage and want to know if there are certain markings where the plate needs to be on the crank OR if i can just put it on anywhere on the notches. i dont want to start installing until i know for sure cause id hate to have to uninstall and redo it.

i can get pics of what im talking about if i lost anyone. im new to this stuff. PLEASE HELP ME OR PM ME. thanks guys

You have removed the Rotary valve - the trademark of the Rotax engine.

This plate is "timed" with those marking to open the ports to the carbs at the precise moment the intake stroke takes place.

well sh**.....i kinda figured it was. how do i time it. i see NO MARKS AT ALL on this piece or the crank gear. thanks for your help
