ok so i need to decide on my fist seadoo for this summer. I have a 96 GTX in my shop its my friends and it got it from him but the motor was full of water i know bad. It was locked down with rust me and my dad got it free but im still worried about the crank bearings. I can get it with a 96 GSX with a bad mpem and a double trailer all for 2500. Where i will pay 1500 any my dad pay 1000 he gets the GSX the GTX would be mine. Its a gamble and im not sure if i should do it or i can get a 1997 GTX with about 250 hours that i can test drive first. I can get the 1997 GTX for 2000 no trailer but its supposed to run good and i wont have to worry about the crank bearing having rust on them and ruining the motor. What should i do which one should i buy? i pretty mechanical but i don't have a lot of time to work on these all summer i just wanna ride. Im thinking just get the 97 GTX for 2000 get a trailer and ride and i wont have oto worry about the motor blowing up on me,
thanks for your opinion guys.

walk-away from all those...WAY OVERPRICED. If anything, get the one, with water in the motor, atleast, that'll run. That mpem for other one, is 1000 buks, and the one w/ 250+hrs, its on its last leg...

i can get a new MPEM for 250 on ebay it maybe 1000 if i take it to the dealer and say fix it. I am very mechanical and can fic it myself if the motor does blow in the one with the water i nit i will change the motor but it was lokced down with rust so i think there is rust on the crankshaft bearings and they wont last long. As far as the other one i think its a decent deal 2000 is really clean and taken care of the guy bought it 9 years ago with 5hrs on it he told me and he has put around 250 hrs on it. I really dont think 250 is a whole lot of hours i think that motor should be good for a while.

Is 250 hours alot?? How many hours can the 787s go before they are pretty worn out.

I think that 250 hours is a lot I would agree with the post above and walk away from those prices or try and negotiate, I would look around more for a better deal that includes a trailer, I got my 96 GSX that is in mint condition with 51 hours on it with a 2003 trailer for $1,400 talked the guy down from 2,000.

ok update i just talked to the guy again he when he first told me 250 hours he said that was a far off guess so i went with that thinking it was around 250. I just talked ot him and he said he went and chcked the guage its has 84 hrs. Theres a big differnece between 250 and 84 but anyway its a very clean 97 gtx but with no trailer is 2000 cash a good deal?
