I just purchased a 98 sportster 1800 that needed a rotary valve and some carb adjustment, so I took it to a mechanic I found online, that turned out to be a convicted felon. Long story short, I almost never saw the boat again, finally picked up the boat from him, only to find the Lanyard key is missing. He Claims I never gave it to him, which is a lie, but whatever, now I've got the boat back NO LANyard Dess key. What can I do?? I just purchased this boat, I have the title, can I get a new key made up? I see tons of Lanyard's online for 20.00 or so, can I just purchase one of them and have it re-programmed for my boat?

ARGHHH

go to a seadoo dealer, buy the key, they will most likely give it to you at a good cost bc you will pay shop time to have the MPEM recognize the new KEY...

simple! good luck, and glad you got your boat back...

How much should I expect to pay?
I'm in Daytona florida

Some dealers will program it for free, if you buy the lanyard from them. But most charge 30 min labor to do it.

ActionKawaYamaha in Bradenton sold me a new key and programed it to my ski for $50+tax. Ask for Brad if you go there.

Yep, that's how I found the Idiot that had me come out yesterday, saw the boat, told me to bring it back in the morning, had me wait for him for an hour to tell me "oh we can't do twin engine jet boats", after he Saw yesterday it was a twin engine boat.

and a SeaDoo dealer told you that?

lol No, there isn't a Seadoo dealer that can program a twin engine jetboat within 150 miles from me. If that's where I have to go, then I don't have much choice, I just can't believe that I can't find somebody closer. I don't understand why there are 100's of places to program a seadoo jetski or single engine jetboat key, but not a twin engine jet boat.

well then that`s what ya have to do then isn`t it...
you want a key done right, find someone who knows what they are doing, or a seadoo dealer and even if it is 3,4, or 5 hours away, you still need a key...

I`ve towed a machine From SJ to Seaford LI NY, just to have one of the best shops take care of my machine under warranty without any of BRP`s BS... and it was done right...

so, suck it up and hook up the boat and go for a drive, or sell it, that simple...

I hear ya, I'm just frustrated that I went from buying a boat that just needed the carbs adjusted to having a boat with no key!!

Jeff,
Got ahold of Nick from this site, I sent my MPEM and new DESS key to Nick he did a great job and beats all prices in Florida:

It will be $35 shipped and it will be sent UPS with insurance. I see you bought a key so make sure to send it too. All I need is the MPEM and key.
