I need help, one of the RAV on the exhaust cans broke off on my 1998 seadoo speedster and filled up the engine are with some water. Engines were running great until this happen. I repaired the RAV but now when I took the boat out I can get the engines to go up over 3000 rpm. It almost sounds like they are hitting a rev limiter or smoothing like that. This is happening on both engines. Ran great before the water issue happen. Also, I notice I have water coming in by the back right exhaust area, is there a seal or something that may of gone back and now leaking some water inside the engine compartment?

I checked the fuses and are all good. What also tested the neutral switch and that also works fine

Can anyone tell me the location of the rectifiers. I know in the engine compartment but were?

Don't know how I missed this one. But when I see 4 posts, I assume someone is already helping. Try not to make multiple posts before you get an answer. If no one has responded yet... just edit your first post to keep the count down.

Anyway....

Your rectifiers should be in the main electrical box. Did you check your power to know it's your rectifiers? Just put a meter on the battery and see what your voltage is. But with your description... I don't think it's your problem. saying "3500 RPM" and "Hitting the rev limiter" sound like to me... the neutral safety switch is stuck.

I read on the forum to check and see if your neutral safety switch is bad by putting it in "F" and try starting the boat. If it starts then the switch is bad. Mine will not start, only when it is in "N". So does this mean the safety switch is working correctly? I also did find the location of the rectifiers.

Yes... the engine shouldn't start in F or R. Have you tried to move the lever back and forth a few times, to see if it would come to life in "F"? Maybe the switch is intermittent.

But... if your rectifier is bad... and the voltage is going high... the engines have a tendency of cutting out. SO... put a meter on the battery, and check.

I have the carbs off right now so I can't try this out. I have already order new rectifiers and installed them but have not tested them out yet. Something similar happen to my jet ski and it was the rectifiers. Maybe I will also order a neural switch and just replace it. This way I know everything is good when I go to fire it up again.
