Began removing carbs on 96 gsx and the last bolt was much more difficult than the rest. I sprayed some wd40 on it and let it sit for awhile. Then I became impatient. I haven't quite rounded it out yet but I'm afraid if I try one more time I will. The inside of the bolt head is not looking good. Can anyone please offer some advice on how to get this out? Thank you

Last bolt?

You say it's the last bolt? Well, then get the clearance you need to spin the carb in circles to take it off.

These bolts are probably not seized into the manifold, they are seized in the space of the carb with aluminum oxide.

If you try and turn it, it will only continue to strip.

My solutions from past experience with this problem was, to buy allen head sockets. This allows me to distribute equal force to the entire bolt head than just one side like you do standard allen wrenches.

That's good advice. Thanks! I'll try it. As for the allen, I am using a number 6 socket with a 1/4" drive. The rest of the bolts didn't require much effort but this one is a B@#$!
Another question-since this bolt will need to be replaced, where's the best place to get it?

Hardware....

You can take it to a hardware store and buy just a regular metric bolt with a standard head if you have to. I've done it. It will work. I also use anti seize on them now. Anti seize the bolt shank and after inserting through the carb, clean off the threads to apply the loctite.

Oh,.............Important. Make sure the throttle plate stays in the closed position as you spin it. I got lax and didn't catch it until I bent it. So, either wire it shut or pay real close attention as you spin it.

When you get it off, you'll be able to put it on two blocks of wood, to expose the bolt, then let it soak with penetrant (Karl turned me on to PB blaster, the stuff is a miracle fix. Before, I used Marvel Mystery oil.) Being patient, you should be able to drive that old bolt out. You must be patient though.

1/4" drive socket?...... That's a mighty small drive to work on the carbs with. But hey, if it works for you!

At my work we use WURTH penetrating lubricant this will be way better then wd-40. WD-40 mean Water displacement and the 40 means it took them 40 times toget it right.
