Has Sea-Doo ever made anything similar to a Wave Blaster?

Hello all. I have been researching waverunners and I know I want a 97+ xp or 98+xp limited (prefer the limited, MORE POWER!!!). But I also want something smaller to screw around on trying stuff. I came across the Yamaha Wave Blaster that was made from 93-96 and it's a small 1 seater ride. I was wondering if Sea-Doo has ever made anything that small. Thanks in advance.

I consider the 96 XP to be a single person ski. I have had two on it. Then we flipped over. and with 110 hp, it is definitely a Wave BLASTER!!!

BRP/Rotax history....

Though I found the site that timmyboy linked us to was interesting, it is not entirely correct. Remember, this site is being written by a person, not a company. I think it would be the same if I were to write that article. I'm not saying he's entirely wrong but there are some things I noticed that don't add up to the actual history of the Seadoo using the official Seadoo BRP website and the Rotax website.

I've done a history thread on the way these two companies integrated a while back, it may be in my "snipes korner" thread.

Anyway, the first Seadoo did come out in 1968 but from what I read on the Seadoo website, it was powered by a Kohler engine. I didn't see that this ski was mass produced. Back in this time, the company was actually dedicated to snow mobiles (Ski-Doo) and motorcycles.

BRP bought out the rights to Seadoo and formed a relationship where Rotax and BRP integrated designing the first mass produced Seadoo in 1989 (actually, in 1988 but they list it as 89). This ski was the SP and had the Rotax 587cc engine in it.

I'd suggest any history buffs who'd like to read all about this, go to the Rotax website, which was first established in Germany in 1921 and also, go to the Seadoo web site and scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the link, "about us".........

I have read about this many times, though the link timmyboy listed was the first time I saw that site and a perspective of someone other than a huge corporate spokesperson. It was very interesting to say the least.

The 1995-1998 HX is about the smallest "recent" Seadoo.

It is certainly the narrowest Seadoo hull made with a tippiness that rivals the WaveBlaster and standups.

What always surprises me about the HX - and this comes from an HX owner of 13 years - is how long the hull is. The HX is over 8.5 feet long. So this is by no means a small boat

Still the Waveblaster is half a foot shorter and narrower than the HX.

I don't regard my HX as a civilized boat - difficult for novices, no onboard storage, impossible to relax and cruise. But the shock absorber seat and lower seating position makes it a lot more comfortable to ride than the Waveblaster.
