I have a 1997 GTX. It runs great for 20 or 30 minutes at al;l rpm's and speeds but will stall for no apparent reason at 40 or 50 mph. It will start right up but only idle for 10 or 20 seconds and then run as if nothing is wrong. When it dies the screen goes completly dead immediatly. Any ideas?

try cleaning your DESS post

if that doesn't work, replace the DESS post. I had the same problem on my 2002 GTX. It would stall at WOT or even idle for no reason then start right back up. It was very intermitant though.

One long beep sometimes on statup, if you pulled or rotated the key it would be fine.

The post is only 1.5 years old but when they replaced the post, they used the same key. The rubber "nubs" on the key are worn down. Could it be vibrating loose? Also, I read some other posts and I still have the grey gas lines and have never cleaned the carbs. I did clean the gas filter and it had more junk than you would like to see but not too bad.

do you only have one key??? also from what ive read on here i would change the grey lines and clean the carbs. I have a boat but i had a problem with it running and it truned out to be the threaded ring that holds the post in had a hiar line crack in it. D E S S keys are very fusie if there not on just right or worn out they can be a pain in the but.

Is there a way to test the post / key? I will change the fuel lines and clean the carbs but don't want to start throwing extra $ at a 11 year old Seadoo.
