I'm new to working on jet skis. Basically, my g/f's parents have 2 seadoos that have not been ran in about 4 years. 1994 Seadoo GTS and 1995 Seadoo GTX. I managed to get the 94 one running and had to flush all the old fuel out and replace the wear ring. On the GTX, the engine will run if I pour a gas and oil mixture directly into the air intake but will die when it burns all that mixture up. I don't have any experience playing with carbs but am fairly mechanically inclined after I do my research. Also when it does run on the fuel/oil mixture, it revs fairly high.

Besides rebuilding both carbs, what are my possible problems?

Thanks in advance

Yes it has grey lines, i think. I have found rebuild kits for 100 bucks for both carbs. I've never rebuilt a carb before...is it something a novice can do?

if they are grey junk them, replace them with new black hose as the grey break down from the inside out and will gum up over time.

I would guess that replacing the hoses and rebuilding the carbs along with replacing all your fuel filters will get you ahead of the game......just my 2 cents

I am going to put it to you this way and this is just me, but I am an ase cert automotive tech and have rebuilt car/truck carbs before....but my seadoo carbs need rebuilt and I am letting someone else do them for me as there is alot more going on with them then I understand.....but hey thats just me.....I might know someone that could do them for you, how close are you to sarasota, fl?

I'm up in tallahassee. I've been told of a guy around here that will rebuild them for 100 bucks + parts. Is that a good price?

depends, for $100 labor then it is going to cost you $200.00 total, is that with him removing and re-installing the carbs? or you taking just the carbs to him?

To me $100 labor if you drop them off to a person....so unfourn yes it would be a fair price, I have worked on alot of old broncos in the part year and the carb rebuild kits are aound $125-175 for the kit depending on which style it has, then $125-150 labor so you are looking at just over $300 that way.

Remember some shops charge $90 an hour labor.
