OK first of all, I am new to this site, so thanks in advance for any info!!
I bought my 99 GTX with a blown motor took it home and finished removing what was left of the engine. I sent the engine off to have it rebuilt. During the interim, I took apart the carbs and cleaned them, replaced all the gray fuel lines, drained and cleaned the gas tank, as well as, the oil tank.

My new rebuilt engine arrived and I carefully installed it following all the specs and diagrams from the official sea doo shop manual. I put fresh oil in the tank and bled the oil pump. Put in fresh gas along with 38oz. of break in oil.

I tried several times to start it. I primed the carbs and she fired right up, but it would not idle. I have started it several times and it seems as though it is starving for gas. I finally got it to rev up a little and when I did the engine went out of control reving up. I quickly pulled the key and it just kept going. I quickly pulled the plug wires and it just kept going. OMG I finally put my hands over the carbs and smuthered it out. I have never seen anything like this before. I am totally confused I need help figuring out what happened and mostly to just get my ski to run properly???????????? PLEASE HELP!!! jj

The run off is normal once the engine gets to a point it will no longer need spark, next time choke it and it will die.......check for air leaks at the intakes,carbs......also double check the lsa and hsa's.......go over everything you did and double check it, I have been in my line of work for many years and I am not afraid to admit I double and sometimes tripple check my own work to be sure.

Thanks for the info. I will do that tomorrow. I am a jet ski dummy...so you will have to inform me as to what hsa and isa's are???? sorry!!

Yeah, I just got replacing the fuel lines, cleaned carbs, etc.

Put it all back together and same thing happened to me today. Although it started fine, the idle seemed really high. Then when you hit the gas it revs up but they don't come down, then I get the out of control motor. Finally doing what you said, pulled the choke.

my buddies does this, we came down to it, bad fuel and we rebuilt the carbs and the jets were ****ed.....might not be your issues but...

Your engine is running lean, thats why it is revving and not comming down. Have you clean your fuel selector switch? Something in the fuel system is making it starve for fuel. Did you rebuild the carbs or just clean them? How was the setting for the needle arm?

Post more info on the carb rebuild.

He has not posted it yet but his problem has already been solved. There was an air leak

problem solved

The PTO side carb's gasket was installed incorrectly. Replaced the gasket and she runs like a top. Just got back from a test ride at the lake.
