GTX Cavitation

I have a 2001 GTX RFI that is experiencing off the line cavitation with full throttle. The cavitation started after a wear ring replacment and pump oil change. The impeller clearences are good and the wear ring has less than 5hrs. What else could cause the cavitation? When the forward reverse level is slightly pulled slightly toward nutral the cavitation seems to stop. thanks in advance for any information.
