GTR problems thinking about downsizing

I will try to not to ramble on and on.
I have a 2012 GTR 215 with 128hrs . I just spent 500.00 on a new Solas impeller and wear ring along with a battery. I get it back about a month ago and I put it into the water on a nice Charlotte day in Tuesday. Well it started off good the new impeller lifted the boat out of the water a lot faster then the OEM unit. About 20-30 min into the ride I notice during slow speed started to rev with really going anywhere. So, I made my way back to the dock. I noticed right away that the ski felt heavier. Then when i pulled it out of the water there was a to nod water coming out of the gate so I pulled the seat and there was like 8in of water in the hull. I am like wtf I just got it back from being fix.

So I called the guy who fixing and told me to bring it over, he drained it out it back in the water and found out he Corbin Seal is bad. I am like I didn't have that problem before. He took offense to that a bit. I back peddled a bit and said I am not questioning your workmanship but what the hell. I know I have to do the supercharger soon too ( confirm with dealer and Seadoo it is a 200hr but I don't want to push it that long. That will push me over 1,000 plus into it in 4 years which I guess it not too bad.

I am thinking of selling it before the supercharger and getting a natural aspirated ski. After that happen and if I had my kids on it I am very wary about boating all together.
Thanks greg
Any thoughts would be great.

Less maintenance issues on a naturally aspirated engine . But you are going to miss the acceleration from 0 to 40 mph that you get from a supercharged ski . Also on the new ones the supercharger is supposed to be maintenance free . Well I bought a 300 rxtx last year and they had a recall on my supercharger they had to replace supercharger impeller. I am kind of leary about any supercharger being maintenance free but they sure are fun.

Here's the thing. It doesn't matter if you're on a Jetski or a $60,000 fishing boat, these things happen. Especially after maintenance, you need to be prepared for problems. Just get the Carbon Seal replaced and continue on. You've had a lot of fun over those 128 hours, I'm sure. Any powered vessel that floats is going to cost money to keep floating and moving. Just the nature of the beast.

I've got a 2016 GTR215. Absolutely love it. Even though I've paid it off already, I still set aside $50 a month for future maintenance/repair/upgrades. I've owned a lot of boats and a few jetski's in my 48 years and every single one of them had one thing in common. You have to pay to play. From a 15' flat bottom Jon boat with a 35hp motor to a 21' open bow Bayliner to a nice Mako 24' fishing boat and now, all I have is my Jetski, they all required maintenance and they all, except this new Ski, have left me stranded at one point for various reasons. Be prepared when you go out and have a float plan.

Great idea on the Na and check out my GTI 130 build thread .
350 hrs and just had to have the dealer re glue the depth finder.
Even in Na form, $40/day in fuel consumption is where I am at after a day of performance boating but manageable
with a efficiency enhanced V Tech , stock tune. Yes you here about uninformed people buying used sc skies just before high cost occurs that turns out to be buying someone else problem.

Is there a reason you can't do the work yourself? We can talk you through anything and you should download a manual.

Replace the CS and enjoy the ski.

Test ride a NA ski before you downgrade. Carbon ring and super chargers are maintenance items.

From what I have read, assuming you have no engine alignment problems or issues like that , a carbon ring will last until the cows come home . As to the sc , your just managing a defect cuz from I have read like the Easton supercharger for example or the new Sea-Doo one they will last long enough that their replacement one day certainly won't be referred to as maintenance which is why this guy is considered a na Sea Doo .

Who in the WORLD are you talking to to give you that shitty information? The CS is a wear replaceable item. Period. The S/C is a maintenance wear item. So are the spark plugs, the exhaust and so many other things. These things are WATER CRAFT. As such, they require one hell of a lot more maintaining than a car. I don't know where you're getting your bottles of Haterade for the S/C versions of the Seadoo, but it's absolutely obvious you don't own one.
