Im buying my first pwc next week and still can't decide what to get. Its between the GTR 215 and the RXT 260. Is it worth it to spend the extra cash to get the 260? I heard that the motors all have governors on them that only let them top out at 70 mph. If thats true than the only performance benefit I would get out of the 260 would be acceleration correct? Any opinions are appreciated.

Whoops its suppose to say RXT 260

Acceleration and stop speed are your biggest differences. The 215 will not accelerate as fast, and has a lower top speed. The hulls are identical, I believe, so handling will be identical. There is a difference in the mats and some internal design differences such as storage and battery access. I also was choosing between these two but I ended up with the 260 because I wanted the reboarding step (optional on the 215), I like the access to the battery and the front storage 'ice chest' was nice to have also. Plus the extra power...from an idle I can punch it and get the ski out of the water. That's about 1,100 pounds coming out of the water (me, ski, fuel). Think about that. I know the 215 cannot do that (I also have a 2010 RXT 215).

Whatever you decide, both are nice machines.

EDIT: you labeled ur post RXP 260 but in the body you talk about the RXT. I am referencing the RXT in my response. If you meant RXP I don't know the differences.
