I just finished the process of replacing the grey fuel lines on my 97 gtx, per snipe and other posts suggesting it. There is one line that runs from the pickup to a tee then to the two check valves in the hull.( vent line) When I took the lower one off the valve it looked like motor oil dripping out of the line. A golden syurp like goo, and quite a bit in the line. None of the other lines had this, any ideas what this could be?

Vent lines...

The vent lines are not normally affected by the other problems created from constant fuel saturation in the grey fuel lines. This goo you saw was probably from normal condensation of the fuel vapor as it's being vented to the atmosphere. When the fuel, over a period of time condenses from venting and evaporating, a gooey oil substance is all that's left. It's part of the base oil from the fuel that can't evaporate. Like when you leave gas in your lawnmower over the course of a year or so. When you take the carb apart, you'll encounter this same type goo.............
