Pretty slick! I bought a Speedhut brand for one of my skis and it beads up bad at any sign of water. This is a great idea and solution turning the "dream-O-meter" into a actual Speedometer.

You say you bought the one from speedhut, is it really that sensitive to water? Because I was looking hard at the speedhut gauges and was worried about it's interaction with water

Yeah I sent it back and they were nice. They "sealed" it (looked like the dab of silicone over the wires in back like I would have done). It still beads up and quits working even if it starts raining on the way to the ramp. It always dries out and comes back though.
