This is my first jetboat. It was difficult to choose between the 230SE / 430, or the Yamaha SX 230 or the 180SE / 255.....I chose the 180 based on low weight to HP ratio, it out manuvered the Yamaha (even with twin engines) 2 to 1, especially at low speed and reverse!!!. It only has 1 motor to maintain, it hauls 8 people, it fits in my garage, it was $6K less than the other two, it runs 49 GPS MPH with me and full tank on glass. It jumps out of the hole like a rabbit on speed.....and it sips fuel .....yeh right...burns about 3.5GPH at average running......

NICE boat...... Just be sure to keep up the maintinance on the supercharger. It should be checked every 25-30hrs and rebuilt every 100hrs. If you ever notice that your rpms are dropping kill the boat it could mean theres a problem with the supercharger at you dont want to damage the motor. I dont want to worrie you you have a good boat just want you to beawear that there are problems with the supercharger if not maintained

BB,

Bitchin' boat bro! Yours is EXACTLY what I want except I want a wake tower too. Where in FLA are you and what dealer did you buy from?

Craig

Congrats on the new boat man!! You are also the first person on here with the new 255hp 180!

I'm really surprised your getting that good mileage. I'm burning about 4-5gallons/hr on my boat. Maybe after the breakin period you will start burning more

Thanks for the fine comments guys.............Sportsterjoel, I am very familiar with the SC probs...I have an '08 GTX 215 ski, they swear to me the washers in the '09 SC's are Titanium alloy.....time will tell..............Craigmri, Dealer is Barneys in St Pete; They have many more in stock...see Scotty, tell him Bucky sent you...none have the tower on them. They have both blue and red in 215 and 255...go for the gusto....you'll love the power and manuverability........Robertm, the fuel estimate is based on 20 hrs. of operation so far, including break in (10 hrs.). I am running it much harder now, so I am sure consumption will go up......I am one to run it in two different styles...idle and wfo; I will report back in 20 or more hours to see were we are with fuel......and RFoster130, I would say that water is about 4' deep at the time these photos were shot...........

BB,

Barneys has done all the service on my Utopia. Ann and Joe are ther best! In fact, I stopped by today to see what they have in stock. They say all they have are the two in the showroom. One was a Red regular 215hp and the other was a Blue SE 255hp.

I want the red SE 255 with Wake tower :-(

Did they offer good deals? So far they're like mid 20's without the tower!!!

Craig

Is that like mid 20's OTD or Mid 20's +++ ?

Why did you let the U boat go? I am seriously thinking of trading up to twin engines in a year or so, simply for dependability...if one doesn't start...the other may get you home............Although I really do like the idea of maintaining only one motor, and so far my GTX 215 and this C180/255 have been bullit proof

Bucky,

I sold the U-boat 205 for two reasons primarily. First, I wanted something that would fit in the garage. The Utopia had to go to secured storage. It was only $80 a month(which I would rather apply towards fueling the boat) but even covered, the boat would get filthy and mildew'd(is that a word?). In addition, the Utopia while a super comfortable boat has a huge sun pad that you had to climb over to get to the swim platform and my son and I are using the boat primarily for water sports now so step on the seat cushions and sunpad back and forth all day was a pain. In addition we want a tower so why not just get it all on the next boat.

We got such a fantastic deal on the Utopia in January that we were able to re-sell it without a loss. It was a great experience and we got to learn what we like and didnt like in our boating.

As for the twin engines, I loved the performance. Low speed and high speed maneuverability was incredible! I hope I dont lose much going to a single pump.
