Sold my Sea Doo 150 because it was getting way too small. I was looking around at other sea doo boats- utopia, 180 and 200. I was also considering yamaha 190 and 192, as well as waiting for the new scarab jet boats that are not even for sale yet.
Finally decided that it would be great if the boat has the front windshield, would fit into my garage for the winter and be able to tow it with our small SUV for now until we get a bigger SUV eventually. So I found a nice 2009 Sea Doo 180 SE 255hp with 26hrs and decided to buy it...looks like new and so far I'm very happy.

How's it fit in your garage? I've heard from some that it won't fit in a standard size garage.

I'm in the same boat (no pun intended). Had great fun with the speedster 150 this summer, but think something bigger next spring would be more suitable. Looking at the same options as OP, may be down to what good second hand deal presents itself. I hear great things about the Yamahas but have also been happy with the Seadoo and had no problems doing all the standard maintenance myself.

Last I looked at the specs a 180 challenger would be too wide for my standard double single garage doors. If I built the house again, I would have gone for a single double door. Will suck to keep the boat in the driveway all summer!

20131014_182034_resized_1.jpg20131021_172849_resized.jpg20131021_171418_resized_1.jpgI have 12x28 amish garage, so it's a little bit longer and I still have some space left. I ordered it with my sea doo 150 in mind than, so I wasn't concerned with the height at that time. Mine is 7' high but I wish I ordered it 8' height now. I was still able to fit the boat, but with inches to spear. My garage is on top of small hill so I had to build my own longer ramp in order to fit the trailer when backing.
I tried to post some pictures yesterday and just now, but for some reason it's not going through. I tried it on PC and iMac. Any ideas?

My tandem ski's can't fit in a 8ft door. An 8 ft door is something like 7ft 6 inches once it is trimmed out in most cases. My trailer at the wheel fenders is 8ft 6 inches.

As much as I love the 180 it won't fit in my garage. I guess I'll be looking at some 150s come spring.

Congratulations she's a beauty! I bought the Challenger 180 for exactly the same reasons you listed.
Happy Boating!

Looks like I'll be selling my 2011 SeaDoo challenger 180SE soon or next spring and getting scarab jet boats ( powered by BRP Rotax 4-TEC 1503 jet propulsion systems ranging from 140-240 horsepower)..

I read where the 195 is powered by a Rotax 4-tec, 250 hp....with a sticker around $40K Looks sweet, but that seems a little steep for a single engine 19' boat....?

If 19' boat is around 40K then I think I'm more than happy with my 2011 180SE (215HP).

I assume you have watched the introductory video for the 195, in case you missed it:

It's pretty sweet but not that big a departure from the Challenger, same basic layout and hull, just some really cool refinements, particularly in the transom area.

The Scarab website is about as helpful as Obama's health site, I got the video and the general price info from the Scarab facebbook page.

I'm with you at 40K+ for a single engine run-about, I'm happy to stay a loyal Seadoo customer.

If Scarab makes it in the sport boat business, Seadoo could have as well, they already had a great market share and could have morphed a new line comparable to the Scarab working from their Challenger and Speedsters.

Watching the Scarab vids got me going, wife and I are taking a lake day tomorrow, weather guy says: sunny, 85 degrees, winds at 5mph

Nice new buy seamarski, guess Im in the same boat (and was literally)... I really like my SeaDoo Speedster 150, but next season, Ill be looking at the Yamaha SX190-192...

I think the Challengers are way better looking though...

I was going to take my boat out today... and I got around watching a movie.. oh well..

Ohh.. by the way I wont be leaving SeaDoo anytime soon, cuz along with that purchase comes my new Seadoo Spark!

As much as I love the 180 it won't fit in my garage. I guess I'll be looking at some 150s come spring.

I upgraded 150 Speedster to Challenger 180 last year. Hired a garage door specialist to widen the frame. The guy estimated that he can widen it up to 8'4", but at the end I got exactly 8'2". The boat fits with scratching the rubber bumper, but it is not a big deal. I also had to install a winch to pull it in, because it is impossible to back up that precise.

Garage storage can be a pain. Last Summer we had a carpenter come and remove our house's 2 single doors and replace it with a double so we could put the boat in there for the winter. Solved the problem, but makes me really wish the original builder did it that way from the start so I wouldn't have needed to throw money at the situation.
