Tried to find answers but could not find one. (Flame suit on)

So, what issue I got is... Just got 14.5/22.5 skat trak impeller for my 1996 challenger. Once I removed old impeller, and installed new one but it doesn't spin freely?

I decided to go back with old one and it spins freely? What did I miss?

It has a new wear ring, jet pump and impeller.

Thanks!

The only thing changed "freely" to "not freely" is the impeller, and the impeller is not touching the wear thing (positive right?)
Then the only place left to look is where you cannot see: where the impeller got screwed on the pump shaft. Does the impeller touch the brass there?

Yes, but I could be wrong about touching part. I will take a pic and post it here when I m back home from work.

Hmm, I didn't really check if the impeller touch the brass. If so, that explains! But, what's solution for it?

Not so great picture but i can see impeller touch wear ring at some points.

So, the impeller was designed to fit my 96 challenger but... looks bit big for it? Should I give them a call or? I didn't see it touches brass.

Ok if just touch a little it is ok. After a couple of trips it will be "tuned" :-)

The shop manual includes a section on adding some lube when installing a new wear ring. Refer to your shop manual for more info.

Additional info from your shop manual:
To allow impeller adjustment into wear ring, start engine to let impeller rotate for a few seconds.

USAF_Pride--- Thanks for showing me that info... So, I will just start install whole assembly back and gonna test it before go out boating tomorrow!

Will update you guys

TThanks

late to the party but keep in mind that aftermarket impellers have a tighter clearance and will cut into the wear ring until it spins freely, having a good pump first of course...

I`m using SBT delrin wear rings, and just spray soapy water in the pump then fire it up, or you could do the same with foamy glass cleaner or soapy water with the pump on the bench, put a socket in a cordless drill and spin the pump with the new impeller installed. now it`s ready prior to installing it back on the boat or at least making it easier to crank over...
