getting a strap around the fuse box

Hi all!

I am in the final stages of repairs on my 96 SPX and am in the process of putting things back together. One of the things I had to fix was the mount for the fuse box. The original mounting plate was shot, so I removed it and installed a replacement. The replacement mounting plate has hooks for those flat black straps like the ones that hold the battery in place. I definitely want to use the strap since the mounting points on the fuse box are pretty chewed up and I don't think it will stay in place without the strap. My question is:

Does anyone have any tricks for getting the strap in place?

With the fuse box in there, it is impossible to get a hand to either hook. There must be a way! Any help is definitely appreciated.

get the strap on the back side that you can't reach when the box is in the way, pull it tight so it doesn't come off the hook, then work the box in place, and pull the strap down onto the front side hook.
