Hi all!

I just bought a 2000 Islandia last summer. It's my first watercraft of any kind. I took it out a few times and had some issues. It took a long time to get on plane and it didn't really go very fast when I got there. I suspected cavitation to be the culprit and of course I discovered my a few pieces broken off the inlet grate and the stator, wear ring, and impeller were all chewed up. I've decided to get it fixed and post the results here to help others. I got in touch with Glen from Impros. He told me he could definitely repair the pieces that were damaged and put a stainless steel sleeve in the wear ring housing. The cost would be around $1200. New replacement cost of all the pieces would be $2400, so I did what any boat owner would do. I B.O.A.T. Broke out another thousand. I mailed the parts to him and he received them yesterday. When I get them back, I will post some photos and let everyone know how the process was. I have attached some before photos for reference.

Just a quick update. It sounds like Impros is pretty backed up at the moment. We're still waiting on materials to arrive. Sounds like I'll have to wait another few weeks.

Haven't heard from Glen in awhile. It was perfect boating weather this weekend here in Tennessee. There was supposed to be a two week turnaround on this, but here we are a month and a half later. I know quite a few people have recommended Impros here, but this is getting a little frustrating. Will update when I hear something.

Stay in deeper water. Suction from a jet drive is very high.
As the saying goes- Jet drives can suck the chrome off a (old) bumper.

Tim,

It was like that when I bought it. I'm very conscious of where I take the boat. Solid advice.

Update: Impros finally shipped back the parts yesterday. They received it on April 13th. It was supposed to be a 2 week turnaround, but I have other thoughts on that situation I'll post on another thread.

Will update and add photos once the parts arrive back and Monday and I'll post a report on the difference it made after I get it out on the water.

I am thinking of sending mine in after the season, so I am looking forward to pics and results. Definitely want to know your thoughts on the turnaround...

At long last, the parts have arrived. They all look good. The quality of the work seems to be on par, and they actually included a few extras. The wear ring O-ring and water outlet O-rings were both included as well as new plugs for the stator. The parts all look much better than what we started with.

Did the install last night. Everything went together easily enough. Going to take her out on the water after work and see what kind of improvement we get.
