Gas Spring - Ski Storage Locker

Hey All,

Brand new 2012 Speedster 150. The bracket on the door of the ski locker that attaches to the gas spring has come off. It was riveted on with two rivets. I was looking at a used 2011 boat before this one and it had the same problem.

Here is the question. What are my options for reattaching that bracket? I don't have a rivet gun so I was thinking that some type of epoxy would do it. I could wait and take it to the dealer, but since I have Hydro Turf on it I do not want them to order me a new door or anything. (Not that they would)

The other choice is just to remove the gas shock completely as it doesn't really seem necessary.

Any ideas or opinions?

I purchased brand new 2011.. took delivery and when i first went to take it out I opened the ski locker.. found that the strut or whatever was only held on with masking tape.. took it to the dealer.. they said they would fix it.. not sure how but they attached it.. after taking boat out came home to clean it and found that it came off again.. have since just removed.. as you stated its not really necessary to have.. sure its nice that the locker door doesnt fall when lifted but i never leave it open anyway.. just open, grab what i need, and close it.. but i barely go in there.. i really only keep my inflatable in there and two crappy fishing rods..

If its under warranty, have the dealer fix it. that way, if you have future issues, its covered.

I am sure I will have it back to the dealer before long...so I will leave it off for now. Dealer is not around the corner so I do not want to run there for just this.

I pulled mine loose on purpose. The door did not open all the way.

I have Hydroturf, so the console is protect from the door. I like it much better this way.

I have Hydroturf as well. I will probably just leave it off since you are right about it keeping the door from opening all the way.
