gas filter on 1999 gtx rfi

regarding my last post of ski bogging after 15-20 minutes and changing plugs and it runs good again, etc.

I thought about this logically. If after putting in new plugs and the ski runs great and then bogs down after 15 minutes, change plugs again, and it runs good again. what could be the problem? well, I was told to check my oil pump adjustment, and be sure to run the correct oil for my ski. I removed oil and then thought that I would check my fuel filter. the reason for that is that if the filter was clogged enough to drain gas into the line, but not open enough to run after the gas had drained out of the line, making the ski run lean and appear to bog.

after draining all the oil and gas out of the ski, and taken the fuel baffle out to check the filter.
one diagram shows a filter at the bottom of the fuel pump assembly and another just inside of the bottom (after the bottom piece is removed.)
another exploded diagram of the fuel pump assembly does not show the filters at all.
after removal of the fuel pump assembly, there was no filter at the bottom of the assembly. there may be a filter inside at the bottom, BUT....
here is my problem. how to take the baffle apart to get to the filters. the shop manual and the parts manual do not show it.

anyone with ideas?

after searching in the gas tank, found filter that goes to the bottom. it was dirty. now for the internal filter......
how to get assembly apart.......

bottom just needed a little prying to get it off, but I do not see any way to get the internal filter off, although it looks real clean.

new update. internal filter is dirty, after drying, I could see it better. still do not see how to remove it or where to purchase filters for the fuel pump.

looked up on parts at this forum site, and it does not show that a filter for either the exterior or internal is available.
Only choice that I have is to put two external in-line filters in it's place.

any opinions on that choice.

well checked oil pump timing marks, and it is right on. pulled the gas pump module out ('99 gtx RFI) filters were somewhat dirty, could only really clean external one, and tried to clean internal on. put it back in the tank and now it will not pump gas. how do I check this pump. where does the power come from. any help or suggestions will be helpful.

UPDATE ON FUEL FILTER ON 1999 GTX RFI...
well after pulling out the fuel module cleaning the two filters as best as I could (sea doo does not have replacement filters...MUST buy whole unit @$800.00) putting a in-line filter after the pump and re-installing module, no gas to the in-line filter (clear plastic) pulled module out again and bench tested w/ 12 volt battery. pump runs. check continuity of plugs, checks out good. hooked connections to pump module while still out, put in dess and could hear pump run. (manual says that after inserting dess, pump will run for approx 1 minute. reinstalled module and still no gas to inline filter. fuses all good. battery charged and strong. (I pulled spark plugs and grounded them to make turning easier)
where do I go now.... need help...

also checked plug at mpem and it shows power, so getting battery power.

Sounds like pump is not pumping or even making pressure to fill the filter. Fuel pumps are very finicky on voltage supplied. Without the correct voltage or amp flow supplied, they will not do the job. Make sure EVERY connection is clean and protected with Dielectric grease. The experts may be of better help.

1999 GTX RFI fuel moduale.

Well this is an update of my past post re: fuel module. after being sure that pump was pumping, (put 12 volts directly to connection at the mpem plug to module) blew into fuel discharge line and there was no pressure (had an air leak somewhere) removed module out again 4th time) and decided to take apart. (what did I have to lose, if I needed a new pump) well after pulling it apart, I found the LEAK. it was a rubber seal that connects the pump to the upper housing that is the discharge line. taking the time to try to straighten this seal, and after about 30 minutes of trying many different tools and made up tools I finally straightened out the seal. before putting module back into tank, I bench tested by inserting module into a plastic container with gas and a 3/8 fuel line on the outlet side. put 12 volt directly to wire clip connection on module and ........ it started pumping gas. reinstalled module into tank, hooked all wires and hose and with spark plugs still out and wires grounded, I inserted dess and started to push on start button and watched gas flowing and filling my in-line gas filter. installed spark plugs and water hose to cool, started engine and it ran great. So,after all that time and effort, I am relieved that it worked out. (also, learned something else about one of my jet skis.)

BIG NOTE: after disassembling module, it was many trial by errors to put it back together again but it finally got completed.

PS: received a message from another member telling me that the filters are available from Auto Zone.
