Just a few questions because I am going to attempt to change my fuel lines and clean my fuel selector valve & carb filters this weekend:

'97 GS and '97 GTS

(1) how many feet of fuel line will I need per seadoo and what size line (1/4 or 3/8)?
(2) how many ss clamps will I need per seadoo?
(3) do I need any specialized tools for the job?
(4) can I get to the carb filters without removing the entire carb body?
(5) where is the fuel selector valve located?
(6) do I need to drain my gas tank to replace the fuel lines?

1) 20ft
2)30, you can always take them back
3)no
4)can, but it be easier to remove them
5)black knob, that you turn to turn "gas" on/off/res
6)no

Not a bad project, just time comsuming....

Do I need just 20ft of 1/4" fuel line? or do I need some 3/8" too? Also what size clamps do I need? Any particular type of clamp that works better than others?

I gave it a good try...just too frustrating! I caved in with the Seadoo in pieces and took it to my Seadoo Mechanic...$300+ later, everything should be working great! Will Seadoo invent a pwc that opens up all the way to actually make it some what convenient to work on...wow!

yea im going to do this same project in the spring. i was about to do it in the fall but i got frustrated with not being able to get a clear view of what im doing. it will be a tough job for me im sure,

It's not that bad on the GSX, I did my 97 and my 96 GTS last summer, took about 2 hours to do.

Did you remove the gas tank or oil tank to get the gas baffler out? that was my biggest headache...then I gave up! I might change the lines on my GTS at a later time.

Why are you removing the baffle? To fix it? I have removed it once in the past, I took the handlebars off and twisted things to get it out. That is not an easy task, I thought of fixing mine to get my fuel gauge back but not sure it's worth the hassle :)

If you are just swapping lines it does not need to come out, easily accessible at least on mine via the storage bin to hook up the lines.

I couldn't reach the fuel lines connected to the top of the baffle, so I was trying to remove the entire baffle to gain easier access. Oh well, what's done is done! I will have to check, but I believe that the GTS (3 seater) might be easier to work on than the smaller GS (2 seater). We'll see...

i would be happy to get this job done in 5 hours. im just curious what you guys took out to make the job that quick. like handlebars, gas tank? if those are easy to take out i guess i might as well do it

I took the handlebars off so I could go through that opening, the storage bin opening, and then obviously through the seat opening. If you have all the clamps and hose reel ready just pull a hose, cut the new one to length, put the clamps on and tigthen, and repeat. Where you run into problems is when you pull more than one hose off at a time, then you gotta figure out which goes where.

Aren't you on PWCToday as well in the TC Jet Pilots forum? If you are done in the metro one of us could probably give you a hand.

well i live in priorlake/lakeville and i have a huge heated garage to do the work in so if anyone in the area likes to work on seadoos. no im not on those forums but i will take a look
