My cousin drove my boat for an hour then onto
the trailer at the ramp. Everything was normal.
At home with the boat on a slightly unlevel driveway (bow up) I went to flush the engine
and heard the normal beeps when the lanyard was on. Turned on the engine then walked
over to turn on the water and the engine just stopped. I noticed the blinking gas indicator on the dash then looked at the fuel level thru the tank while rocking the boat and it was empty. Tried to restart but won’t crank over. Reset the lanyard and now no beeps at all.
He said no problems or warnings when he was out there.
Put gas in but was worried now about EFI engines being run dry.
Now with the lanyard on, the fuel pump is cycling every 1 second with it’s motor sound and then a click over and over and over no stopping. I remember normally it’s the motor sound for a second and shuts off then you get the beeps in order to start.
Removed the hose clamp for the fuel line that feeds the plastic tube on top of
the engine that divides fuel into 3 directions. It has fuel there.
Was thinking maybe no beeps meant the line wasn’t primed.
Any answers to why the fuel pump is running over and over and not allowing the
beeps? Sensors, filters, faulty pump, air lock in lines somewhere? Guess I could take
the fuel line off again and see if the pump gushes fuel out.
Pump will run with lanyard on even in forward or rev.
I know we all put the shifter in neutral to go thru this sequence upon startup,
so I can’t confirm if this is even normal.
If anyone has run out of fuel before did you have problems restarting after refueling?
Any help here would be appreciated guys. Got to get her started to flush out the
salt water… thanks
